Plutarch Who? Happy to have obliged. But I’m sticking with Heraclitus about the river. He said it was impossible for the same man to step into the same river twice. Both the man and the river will be different, which goes to his point about change. (The man older and the river water different from what was there before.) Heraclitus also said, “The chains of marriage are so heavy it takes two to lift them … sometimes three.”
